Five kinds of protection
What protects the land
- Protected nature areas · National parks, nature reserves, nature parks and Natura 2000 sites, with their zones.
- Micro-reserves · Small areas protected for a rare species or habitat, often inside managed forest.
- EU habitats · Habitats protected under the EU Habitats Directive, as mapped by the Nature Conservation Agency.
- Natural monuments and protected trees · Geological, hydrological and tree monuments, and individual protected trees.
- Protected species sites · Places where protected species were recorded. We do not show the species name, to protect them.
